Nestled at the head of Kenmare Bay – where the world-famous Ring of Kerry links with the wild and rugged Ring of Beara – the picturesque heritage town of Kenmare wholly deserves its reputation as one of Ireland’s leading holiday destinations.

With breathtaking scenery, great gourmet restaurants, lively pubs and quaint boutiques and colourful art galleries, Kenmare truly has it all.  Washed by the Gulf Stream, thus enjoying a year round mild climate, Kenmare today is a delightful little town of just under 2000 people. The original Irish name of the town was “Neidin” meaning ‘little nest’, so called because the town nestles amidst the surrounding mountains.

Endless Activities

For those who enjoy the great outdoors, on offer are an endless array of outdoor activities such as hillwalking, golf, sailing, horse riding, and fishing – more than enough options to keep all the family busy. Take a look at our “Local Activities” section for further information.

Great Food

Foodies too are in for a treat, as Kenmare has become a top-notch gastronomic destination. Linger over long leisurely lunches of fresh seafood in some of the town’s best restaurants or plan ahead, and come for the annual Kenmare Food Carnival. In the evenings, sip on a pint of Guinness and chat with locals while listening to some live Irish music in a traditional pub.

Ideal Location

Not only is Kenmare a fantastic and vibrant destination in its own right, but it’s also a perfectly positioned base from which to discover the South West of Ireland.  The town itself lies on the Ring of Kerry, which follows the dramatic coastline of the Iveragh Peninsula, and is without question one of the most spectacularly scenic drives in Ireland.

Coastal Holiday Cottages are located within easy-walking distance of the town of Kenmare, making the cottages the perfect location from which to experience everything that Ireland’s South West has to offer.   Come visit! A warm welcome is guaranteed.
