Travelling To Kenmare
You have many options for travelling to Kenmare including planes, trains and automobiles. Below is an overview of the easiest and quickest ways to arrive, and also the most scenic route along the Ring of Kerry. We hope your journey to Kenmare will be as enjoyable as your stay.
By Car:
From Dublin, you can drive either via Cork or Killarney to reach Kenmare. Drive south out of Dublin on the N7 road. Shortly after the Portlaoise toll plaza, you can veer off to the left at Junction 19 to join the M8 motorway in the direction of Cork. Alternatively, you can continue straight on along the M7 to Limerick, and from there onto Killarney.
From Killarney, you have two options. You can take either the scenic mountain route along the Ring of Kerry (N71 road) or go in the direction of Cork (N22) turning off to the right at Loo Bridge onto the R569. There is a signpost for Kenmare. Both drives take approximately 35 minutes. If it’s your first time to the Kingdom of Kerry (yes, we really do refer to it as that!), we recommend taking the Ring of Kerry route as you will pass through some pretty stunning scenery.
From Cork, you take the N22 in the direction of Tralee and turn off to the left at Loo Bridge onto the R569. There is a signpost for Kenmare. If driving from Dublin, there is no need for you to go into Cork city, but simply continue along the ring road following the signs for Tralee/Killarney.

By Plane:
The closest airport to the Coastal Holiday Cottages is Kerry Airport located at Farranfore. We advise allowing 50 minutes for the drive from Kenmare lest you get caught behind a flock of sheep en route.
Cork Airport is approximately a 70-minute drive to Kenmare. Shannon Airport, located just west of Limerick City, is another option when travelling to the South West of Ireland, situated right in the middle of the Wild Atlantic Way. Cars are available for hire at all airports.
By Ferry:
Ferry services currently connect with the south and southeast of Ireland with the UK and France. The companies servicing these routes are:
Brittany Ferries operates a service between Roscoff and Cork.
Irish Ferries operates on routes from France to Rosslare.
Stena Line operates on routes from the UK to Rosslare.
